报告摘要：The theory oflocallyfinite topological spaces, motivated by computer science,digitalimage processing, data analysis and other applications, has been developed over the past few decades.Anelementin a data set usuallyhas aneighborhood consisting of finitely many elements.So,researchers wishing to characterize the topological properties of data sets have turned to tools fromlocallyfinite topological spacesand polyhedralcomplexes.In this talk I discuss some properties of locally finite topological spaces and polyhedralcomplexes, and then show some applications.

专家介绍：王彦英，河北师范大学数学科学学院教授，博士生导师。在代数拓扑与微分拓扑及其应用研究领域，主持完成多项国家自然科学基金和教育部基金项目。通过引入最小法丛信息量、寻找拓扑不变量等方法给出了一些闭流形的协边分类及等变同胚分类等。近年来关注数字拓扑和计算拓扑的新发展，将代数拓扑方法与机器学习相结合应用于特殊材料分子结构等领域的数据分析。在Proc. Amer. Math. Soc.、Topology Appl.、Discrete Math.等国内外重要学术期刊发表论文50余篇。应邀访问过德国哥廷根大学和康斯坦茨大学、日本东京大学和京都大学、新加坡国立大学、韩国首尔国立大学等。主持国家线下一流课程《点集拓扑》课程建设，获河北省教学名师奖。
